Extra Giving Requires GAS - GAS is an acronym that helps us remember the three critical parts of Giving for a Living. Once you understand how the "GAS That Drives Mission"  can literally fuel worthy causes, you will have more potential to give than you ever thought possible. 

Here are the three parts of Giving for a Living: 

• Gifts of Generosity
• Assets of Action
• Services of Significance

Gifts of Generosity - We all know what a gift of generosity is. It is a gift that is usually born out of sincere love and devotion as evidenced by its lavishness.  It often represents a stretch for the giver and that's part of what makes it so extraordinary, so special.  Gifts of generosity are about the heart. If our heart is in the right place, so will our giving be.  How true!

The question is, "How many of us think deeply about the influence of affluence? How many of us are willing to deny ourselves unnecessary margins of comfort in order to follow a higher calling to respond to the cries of the suffering?"  If you are ready to respond to that higher calling, stay tuned.

Gifts of generosity come from the understanding of the truth that we are not owners, but stewards of our resources.  Stewards don't own anything.  They manage their master's assets.  And the Master of us all is honored with gifts of generosity. 

But "gifts of generosity" represent only the first part of Giving for a Living.  You may be asking, "Do I have assets that could become 'Assets of Action'?" and "What is a 'Service of Significance' that would offer a significant impact on my giving and how do I get started?"  Glad you asked!  

Assets of Action - An asset is something that you own that has value.  Did you know that your assets can give now...and give later?

• Giving Now - "It" is a great gift, but you must give "it."  So what is it?  Here's a hint:  If you no longer need it or use it, you could turn "it" into an "Asset of Action" by selling it in order to donate the proceeds from the sale to a worthy cause. Services of Significance - When we refer to a Service of Significance, we are referring to services that are important to you; so significant that you will probably never do without them. These are services that you use every day and make regular payments to use.

You've probably never considered this before but there are services that over 90% of us use every day.  Over the course of a lifetime we will pay thousands of dollars to maintain them believe it or not.  What if the company that we bought them from paid a regular percentage toward a charity or a cause that we wanted to support?  We could literally give hundreds of dollars toward a worthy mission and not even think about it!  Internet services, phone services, cell phone services and online retail shopping outlets that are significant to you and me are a few examples.
